A mixed bag of photos and videos from hanging out with the boys around August
long weekend in the Rockies.

Full size
Luc came to visit for an overnight since they had gone to a baseball game in Okotoks.

Full size
The new splash park at Calaway Park is a pretty big hit with the boys.

Full size
Lots of areas to play with at low heights mean it's targeted at a good range of ages, something
that Calaway is generally pretty good at.

Full size
Looking back at the mini golf area.

Full size
The boys on the trucks, one of Walter's favourite stops.

Full size
On the 'big train' with Daddy.

Full size
Even though this doesn't totally communicate it, this is Walter giving his brother a big hug.
Walter is definitely a hugging child.

Playground tour

Often on Saturdays, I'll take the boys for a tour of new playgrounds to them
as Cochrane has 26 not counting the new developments still run by developers.
These are all around Gleneagles.

Henry and Walter on the teeter-totter

Full size
It's challenging to get Henry to take an outdoor photo without sunglasses but Natalia got one
after church one Sunday morning.

Full size
Henry and I sometimes go to Mitford Pond, a stocked trout pond in Cochrane. No fish yet, but we keep trying.

Full size
Henry sticking his bum into the water table in our back yard.

Full size
I went to Henry's Sportball class and was surprised to see him paying attention, listening,
and not making animal sounds instead of talking to coach Hiro.

Full size
Henry catching a ball.

Full size
Henry at my dealership riding the pony (it takes American dimes that they give you there).

Full size
Walter riding the pony too.

Full size
We went for another playground tour after the dealership, this time to Glenbow. The boys
were fascinated by the foam on Big Hill Springs Creek.

Full size
Walter thinks he's five and doesn't understand why he can't just climb everything. Needless to
say, he takes a bit more active supervision.

Long Weekend Fun

Full size
We lucked out and had gorgeous long weekend weather in Cochrane. I took the boys for playground
tours again, this time to Riviera and Riversong. Here's Henry being proud atop a log.

Full size
The boys playing with a tunnel.

Full size
Henry smiling on the tunnel with Walter playing in the middle.

Full size
Henry pretending that his Chariot is a rocket ship. He also sorted out how to remove the wheels
which Walter was quite interested in.

Full size
The boys in the Chariot.

Full size
We went to Granary Road since we were down in the south anyway. This is Henry and Walter
leading the purple maze at Granary Road.

Full size
Henry thought Granary Road was pretty fun.

Full size
Walter LOVED the treehouse area with the big slides.

Full size
"AGAIN AGAIN!"

Full size
Henry and Walter bouncing on the trampolines.

Full size
The ant area was pretty neat and full of cool slides. The 'eggs' were pretty fascinating for the boys.

Full size
Henry in an egg at the Chicken Coop.

Full size
Henry and Walter in the egg.

Full size
Zoomed in shot of the boys at the eggs.

Full size
The plant area was a bit underwhelming actually, but the rest of Granary Road is definitely fun
for kids and worth a tour if you're in the south already. At $50 for the family though (and with a
high-end expensive food market around it), it wasn't a cheap outing.

Full size
Natalia got to ride the zipline.

Playing on the slip and slide

Full size
We went over to Grayson and Rhys' house for Grayson's 3rd birthday. With great weather, Alf put out
a slip and slide that the kids loved.

Full size
Walter trying out the boat on the slip and slide.

Full size
The best part of birthday parties - CAKE, or in this case cupcakes.

Full size
I took the boys for a hike at Big Hill Springs, but they were much more excited about the
bubble sets they got from Grayson's party.

Full size
Henry thought it was cool that he could put a bubble on his hand.

Full size
So, of course, I had to help Walter do it too.

Full size
He was JACKED about the bubbles on his mitt, even though it took about 100 tries to get it right
and to not have Walter wreck it.

Full size
Walter did well, actually hiking almost the whole 3 km loop with Henry doing just fine too.

Full size
A purple aster that the boys quite liked and which was everywhere.

Full size
Henry and Walter enjoying the waterfalls and throwing rocks into the creek.

Full size
The boys eating popsicles in our backyard on a hot holiday Monday.

Hike up Jumpingpound Mountaing

Full size
Now that I've identified 107 peaks from our deck, I now have to go to the top of all of them.
This is a sub-alpine meadow on Jumpingpount Mountain, that while being super close to the road
it does take a drive on the Powderface Trail which is pretty heavily frequented by big lumber
trucks.

View from Jumpingpound Mountain

Full size
Looking over to the east ridge that I jumped over to. 42 minutes to summit from the
car is pretty fast.

Full size
A look at Tiara Peak, a scramble that my friend Dan and I had done in November one year.

Outing on Garmin Connect is HERE

Full size
A quick look up Cougar Creek with Louis, although we turned back for medical reasons that day.
Mt Townsend and the Epic/Mystic Tower were on the tick list, but will stay there for now.

Rock climbing with Maria and Dan

Full size
Maria invited my friend Dan and I to do a fun 4-pitch climb called 'Le Soulier'. Here she is in the
morning before our climb.

Full size
Looking down from the first pitch.

Full size
Looking back towards the Banff chateau.

Le Soulier. Dan wanted to put Maria's old cheese string in the shoe for future posterity.

Full size
Decent view from the top of the climb looking down the Bow Valley.
