Here are some pics from a Flames game, and from ice climbing in Canmore.

Full size
I took Natalia to see the Calgary Flames play the Columbus Blue Jackets. These are our sweet tickets
courtesy of Mr Joe Bourette from my hockey team. I took a few pics of Kipper for my sister's boyfriend Justin.

Full size
Another shot of Kipper hanging out in front of the net. He hasn't had the greatest season, but he still
has quite a few wins.

Full size
I also took some pics of the ice girls for my brother Denis.

Full size
More ice girls.

Full size
Natalia and I hanging out in th 9th row at the Pengrowth Saddledome.

Full size
Harvie the hound is the Flames' mascot. It was Harvie's tongue that Edmonton Oilers coach Craig MacTavish
pulled out of his mouth a few years ago in a bit of a rage.

Full size
A decent shot of Kipper.

Full size
Harvie and I enjoying the game.

Skiing with Kelly

Full size
Kelly, Jeanna Berg and her friend Christine and I took a quick run out to Nakiska to get a few early
season turns in. This was Kelly's maiden voyage in his helmet and goggles. If you see him, make sure
you mention that the matte finish really looks sharp.

Full size
I think this is the third girlfriend I've skied with Kelly with. We're all kind of hoping this will last.
The only down side is that Jeanna's a snowboarder, but we can work on that.

Natalia's brother Eric and his fiancee Jenelle came for a visit and to play outside

Full size
Eric came right from work, where he's a corrections officer at a penitentiary.

Full size
Natalia and I tried to impress our guests with our culinary talents. The Thai soup turned out well,
but the curry was a little bit questionable. That's how we learn I guess.

Ice climbing

Full size
The other reason that Eric and Jenelle came down (in addition to visiting) was to go to the Canmore
Ice Climbing Festival. It wasn't warm that morning, but we went to go check it out and it was a great
decision. Here's Natalia next to the ice walls they built for the event.

Full size
At the park where the festival was hosted is the Stan Rogers Memorial Stage. I thought that was cool.

Full size
Eric and Jenelle are showing Natalia how to be warm at -25 deg C.

Full size
Here's me trying out ice climbing for the first real time. I had been before with Jason Stowers on
the Elliott Glacier on Mt Hood, but this is a little more real. The tools I have in my hands were super
nice - the Black Diamond Cobras. Pretty sweet ice tools.

Full size
I thought I was going to hate this. It was actually pretty fun although I must admit that I pooped a little
when I ran out of foot holds and had to make my own.

Full size
Check out the high-stepping!

Full size
I thought the ice that they formed was actually really cool. It had great shapes in it, as well as no
shortage of pock marks from ice tools.

Full size
I then tried the corner route on the wall and got a little spanking.

Full size
This is me leaving my tool in the ice. Nice work Paul.

Full size
Eric then showed me how it's done. I suppose it's only fair since I did a little showing on rock.

Full size
This proves that Natalia was at the Festival. She wasn't going to climb, but she actually wound up
enjoying it and being a superstar to boot.

Full size
Here she is with actual ice tools in her hands.

Full size
They were giving out free T-shirts if you could do 10 pull-ups. Nice job Eric!

Full size
Natalia climbing like a rock star.

Full size
I think she actually surprised herself at how high she got.

Climbing in Grotto Canyon

Full size
After a proper lunch of sandwiches, pickles, and treats, we headed for a short hike into Grotto Canyon
to go check out some real ice for climbing.

Full size
Jenelle and her friend on the hike into the canyon. Perfect bluebird skies called to us that day.

Full size
Eric and Natalia Lynn looking ready to tackle anything.

Full size
Natalia LOVED her crampons and called them her "Tiger Claws". There's a small creek that runs through the
canyon that freezes pretty solid and it makes for some pretty fun exploring.

Full size
This route is called Hers at the mouth of the canyon.

Here's me swinging an ice tool.

At the mouth of the canyon we had to put on our "Tiger claws".

Aren't they cute? Baby arrives in March!

This is the first time I've screwed in an ice screw.
