Here are some photos from hiking with Kurt on Canada Day July 2011

Since we couldn't ski at Sunshine without some serious skinning, we decided to go for a nice hike
on Canada Day with our friend Kurt. The goal was to get back to Canmore for their Canada Day parade,
but we got back to Calgary right as the parade was ending. Sorry Natalia! Here are Kurt and Natalia
at the start of the Old Goat Glacier Trail hike.

Here's Kurt enjoying his water bottle, and his man-purse satchel. Kurt, most hikers use backpacks...

Kurt picked himself a flower and placed it in his chapeau. What a jolly gay fellow!

This is a slightly over-exposed photo of Kurt showing me his kung-fu moves.

About half-way up the hike is a really pretty waterfall with a fair amount of snow still
covering a lot of the area. We were going to find a fair amount more snow though.

Did I mention that Natalia and I decided to hike in Chacos?? The snow was not our favourite.

We saw quite a few whistling marmots along this hike.

Somewhere back there is another marmot that Natalia is posing with.

This is a pretty cool shot of the rockwall at the top of the hike.

This is where Natalia and I decided to have our lunch.

I have to think that a lot of this is climbable. It's just a longer approach.

Kurt wanted to climb up onto this rock for some reason.

Here is the Zen master.

That's a whole lot of snow behind you Mr G.

I thought the colour off the mountain, the green of the grasses, and the blue of the sky made for
a nice photo.

Kurt jumped across the snow patch to come join us for lunch.

Natalia is actually solar-powered. Here she is recharging in the sun.

The view down to Spray Lakes is pretty cool.

Here's how most of Natalia and I's trips end. It turns out Kurt is a similar passenger.
