I had a sales conference in San Diego, CA so I went a little early via LA to see
a hockey game with my buddies Chris Mills and Lee Johnson.

This is my friend Chris Mills at Malibu, CA. Sadly for him, he's a Kings fan. A lesser man might
make a comment about the relative proximity of the garbage can to Chris' shirt, but not I.

Malibu, California gets the Paul Perrault stamp of approval.

Chris and Lee along the Pacific Coast Highway north of Los Angeles, CA.

As is typical for a road trip with me, I found some strange roadside attractions. Here a very large
Mexican man beckons us in to try La Salsa.

On the pier looking out along Manhattan Beach. Most of the property along the beach here
starts in the 2-3 M range.

I found a shark at the little snack kiosk at the end of the pier.

Proof that I was actually in Los Angeles. We drove all over LA trying to find a good vantage point
and then wound up seeing it from the highway. You can just barely see the "Hollywood" sign.

A great bus stop sign in LA, as we're walking to the Staples Centre.

Just outside Staples Centre is a statue of The Great One.

I brought back 3 Viking helmets from Oslo that I was planning on giving to Natalia's brother Eric
and her dad. En route to deliver them, they made an appearance at a Kings game. This is Chris
wearing his "Fighting Helmet".

Full size
The three Vikings in full regalia looking for a fight. As you can imagine, Lee was unpopular
(and actually got booed by a squad of 8 year olds) since he was rooting for the Coyotes.

Full size
If you zoom in, you can see Wayne Gretzky in his second ever NHL exhibition game as a coach.

Full size
And if you're a frequent peruser of my site, you'll know what picture this is. That's right,
this is a picture of me and Wayne Gretzky. I don't want to even hear it. I have a picture
of Wayne and I and you don't!

After the game, we drove down to San Diego for the sales thing. It was actually at a really
nice resort called the Paradise Point. From my room, here was the view in the morning.

One of the evening activites was to attend a Padres game in the new Petco Park stadium in downtown San Diego.
Thanks Les for tickets! This is Lee Space and our new guy Scott Dudjak.

Full size
The new Padres stadium is really nice. We got seats out in the bleachers and right at field level,
the bottom of the seat area was filled with sand for the kids to play with. $8 tickets!

Full size
This is Dave Tobin and Paul Collanton, making their first appearance on my site. Les is the
odd one out in the pink shirt. Dave, not surprisingly, is the one with the beer in his hand.

Full size
I know Les won't be happy about this one, but smile big guy!

Full size
One of the other great features of Petco Park is the wiffleball. Seriously, there were kids
playing wiffleball throughout the actual game.

This is Craig Allen, one of the team members from North Carolina.

Outside the Irish pub we were at, it seemed like a good idea to rent these bikes for a ride to
the next pub. After Lee and I checked one of them out on a test drive, we hopped in a headed
down to the W hotel's pub. I think this is Craig telling the locals he's from the West side.

Full size
This is Dave Tobin "Fancy walking" with his high knees to try to keep up with the bikes.

Full size
Scott Dudjak had the presence of mind to invite his beautiful wife to join him in
San Diego. She arrived on Thursday night and joined us for a night out.

A great mullet spotted at the pub.
