These are photos from Christmas with my family, December 2008, in Calgary, AB.

Opening presents

Full size
Justin (Renee's fiance) made the trip to Calgary for one night. Here he is opening our secret
Santa presents.

Full size
Natalia had his name and she got him this sweet shirt from the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

Full size
Justin had my name and found me a Booster pack for Cranium (which I needed for the clay for sure).

Full size
He also found me a sweet print of Sidney Crosby from a local artist in Red Deer.

Full size
Here is my dad opening his Flames tickets to see the Sens on the 27th. I wrapped them up in a
big box since my dad likes to guess his presents.

Full size
My aunty Colette got my dad "jerk" sauce. I wonder if she was making a statement...

Full size
Natalia and I made my mom this plate at Fire Escape in Calgary. She really liked it.

Skiing at Shaganappi

Full size
After taking my dad and Danielle on a bit of an 'adventure' at Bowness the day before, I figured I
should show them some nicely groomed trails too. Here is my Dad at Shaganappi golf course. This
day was the type of ski day that makes you fall in love with skiing all over again. It was unbelievably
fast, no wind, sun, and great views of the city.

Full size
We did the long loop of the course. Here's my dad after enjoying a good ski.

Full size
Danielle and the downtown of Calgary.

Full size
Danielle got a shot of me too although I look like a dork.

Zoolights

Full size
As Calgary's Zoolights ONLY has 1.5 million lights (apparently the Saskatoon Forestry Farm has 2...),
I thought I'd show it off to my family. Although it wasn't a warm night (-20), we still enjoyed the trip
and took a few shots. These are some penguins for my friend Erik who is in the deep south right now.

Full size
Some of the "animals" in the zoo.

Full size
A shot of my dad in the tunnel of love.

Full size
My mom could have used a warmer jacket. Renee likely could have used warmer boots for that matter.

Full size
Danielle and Renee under an arch with a snowman behind them.

Full size
I took this picture for Natalia's mom as she loves pink flamingos and has her cottage decked out
in them.

Full size
Mom took a shot of me in the Candy Cane lane. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was fuzzy.

Full size
My parents and my sisters under the Tunnel of Love.

Full size
I guess the Zoo hosts singles nights at the Zoolights on Thursdays. I suppose they congregate
in this gazebo marked "Smooch" and play spin the bottle.

Full size
I liked the animals in this tree too.

The family (minus Denis, Leah, Justin, and Natalia) at the Calgary Zoo, Friday Dec 26th.

Flames v Senators - 27 Dec 2008.

Full size
This is one of the biggest smiles I've seen on Dad in awhile. He seemed pretty excited to be
at an NHL game. He said he hadn't been since sometime in 1997 or 1998 when my brother worked
for the Flames.

Full size
On this night, Rene Bourque scored a hat trick. Here are some of the hats being thrown onto the ice.

Full size
My dad and I in section 225.

Full size
Bourque getting the 1st star of the game. The flames won 6-3.

Full size
My dad and I on the way out after the game.

Full size
Thanks to a random guy for taking the photo.

Skiing at Peter Lougheed Prov Park

Full size
Danielle and her friend Terri let me crash their ski party. Despite a slow start (there was a
plow in the ditch on highway 1 that almost turned us around), we still had a great day in the
park. Here are Danielle and Terri Haffick at the Pocaterra Hut.

Full size
As a side note, the Pocaterra hut is an excellent place to start as it has a
fireplace, warm bathrooms, and running water. Here it is here covered in a fresh 10 cm.

Full size
Even though they hadn't groomed in awhile, the first 6 km were quick due to the other skiers in front
of us setting a track. Here is Terri (with Danielle behind her)

A youtube video of Danielle going down a hill VIDEO

Full size
Terri and Danielle, proving that we skied on more than just green terrain.

Full size
After snowing for the morning, the skies cleared up and we had a nice view of the mountains.
Peter Lougheed Provincial Park gets the Paul Perrault stamp of approval.

Full size
The girls both called this a "perfect" Christmas tree.

Full size
Terri and Danielle (with her eyes closed) and the mountains behind them.

Full size
Cross country skiing is one of the only sports where it's acceptable to use a fanny pack AND
spandex tights! I didn't say it was cool though...
