Since the weather was SOOO cold (-30 plus wind chill), we decided that our hut trip to Peyto
probably wasn't the best idea. Icefields at that that temp are ridiculously cold. Instead, Gord, Jenn,
Cam, and Scott let me join them for a shorter day tour up to Fortress mountain.

This is a shot of Gord as we're getting ready to leave the car. Did I mention that it was ~-25 deg C
plus wind chill when we started?

An hour and half of skinning brought us to the base of Fortress.

Even though the weather was cold, the views were outstanding on a blue bird day. This is looking
back at the Opal range of the Rockies front country.

Cam, Jenn, and Gord just before we skied back down to the car. The snow up top was definitely
thin and there was some faceting in the snow pack, but overall, it was pretty stable.

A better shot of the mountains. Even though it's cold, it's still stellar.

This gives an idea of how cold it was. Gord had a permanent snow growth on him almost the whole day.
