After our Haute Route adventure, I had a few more days to tour around Northern Italy
Here are some photos from Milan

The Duomo, Milan, Italy

Full size
Since the guys had to fly out of Milan, I decided to go with them and then make my way back to Geneva from there.
There is an extremely Gothic cathedral in Milan that I wanted to check out. This is the front of the church
and you can see the fluted spires, pinnacle and flying buttresses all over this thing.
There's been a church on this site since the beginning of the 5th century, but this building dates from the 14th.
This is the fourth largest cathedral in the world and the largest in Italian territory (St Peter's is in the Vatican).

Full size
This is a little out of focus but I thought the pews with the cool floor made for a neat photo.

Full size
A really unique, and likely the most famous, statue in the cathedral is of St. Bartholomew in his own skin
by Marco D'Agrate. It is a little morbid, but it seems like it was done by an anatomacist.

Full size
I think the marble floor in the Duomo is just gorgeous. I think it's really funny that they drive little
maintenance trucks around on the floor in here though.

Full size
I thought the stone and the glass was pretty impressive.

Full size
I want a gargoyle on my house in the worst way.

Full size
Flying buttresses and spires as far as the eye can see. Pretty cool actually. This is taken on the way up
to the roof, where they charge you a few Euro to get on top of this thing.

Full size
The Madonnina and the main spire were under renovation when I was there.

Full size
Some kind of weird sculpture with horses in the ground near the Duomo.

Full size
The day we were there was also some kind of street carnival so there were people and strange
games all over the place.

Full size
A decent view of some of the beautiful arcades all around the Duomo.

Full size
Did I mention I love gargoyles?

Hanging out in Milan, Italy

Full size
This was some kind of strange erotica museum, but I just thought the number of blow-up dolls in the window
and the number of Asian men in suits walking in was funny and awesome.

Full size
Inside one of the beautiful shopping arcades near the Duomo was a plane. I don't know the story on it
but I thought it was awesome.

Full size
Check out the glass in the arcade.

Full size
A statue to Leonardo da Vinci. It's rare to see a statue of someone I actually know or recognize.

Full size
I took this for my sister Danielle who works with a lot of Mac make-up.

Full size
I absolutely adore trofie from Natalia and I's last trip to Italy. I was so excited when we found
a restaurant serving it near the Duomo.

Full size
Just another gay chocolate shop.

Full size
We took a walk around the Sforza Castle, which used to be the head of the Duchy of Milan. This is Dicky
in front of the Torre del Filarete.

Full size
Alex is walking towards one of the corner towers.

Full size
I tried to get a reasonable picture of it, but this is Michelangelo's last sculpture, the Rondanini Pieta.

Full size
We went for a bit of a walking tour around Milan. Chris liked this bike and wanted his picture taken with it.

Full size
Dicky and a whole lot of seafood that I would never eat.

Full size
Randall decided that he can get used to a chocolate croissant and a latte for breakfast.

Full size
I'm not really sure where this is, but Randall is hanging out with a neat fresco behind him. I really need to
take better notes of why I take photos.

Full size
Randall likes rental bike schemes in city centres.

Full size
I was lucky enough to get a single ticket to see the Last Supper - an unbelievable painting by
Leonardo da Vinci. It's here at the church of Santa Maria della Gracie.

Full size
Since photos of any kind are completely not allowed, I took a photo with Randall outside the painting
in the visitor gallery as we waited for our turn to view the 15th century mural. More about the Last
Supper is Here

Full size
Since the guys had now left Milan, I wondered a lot around the city. I found this park and arch at the
Porta Sempione. There were also some young kids dancing around, so I used them for foreground.

Full size
We wound up at a bouldering competition in the middle of the park. Randall thought it was cool.

Full size
Similar to Natalia, Randall also enjoys Italian gelato. Yum!

Full size
Randall found a few Italian brands, like this gorgeous Ferrari.

Full size
Yeah, Lamborghinis aren't bad either.

Full size
Randall with a scale model of the Duomo area.

Full size
Seems like a great place for sausage...

Full size
A ballet shop I took a photo of for my wife.

Full size
Say what you will, Randall has expensive taste.
