Labour Day is quickly becoming one of our favourite weekends to be in Cochrane. Here are some fun photos
of the rodeo and parade weekend.

Full size
First some photos from the boys at the Science Centre - this is a 'junkyard' exhibit that kids are
welcome to play in, but parents aren't welcome. It seems like an OSHA hazard to me, but the kids
seem to love it.

Full size
They also loved the painting wall - with spray bottles. Yikes!

Labour Day Rodeo

Full size
Our little cowboys enjoy the rodeo, mostly for the treats and the event, but here's Walter walking
alongside Natalia.

Full size
Walter and Henry showing me their stamps they got at the door.

Full size
Henry watching the events with Aunty Maria.

Full size
Walter and I took a selfie while we watched rodeo events.

Full size
Heading to bouncers.

Full size
There was also a kids' bouncer area that both boys just absolutely crushed.

Walter watching rodeo.

Full size
Walter's favourite 'event' was when the tractor came out to groom the rodeo arena.

Full size
Henry and I wandered the food truck area to find him a treat. He settled on cotton candy and while
he didn't really eat much of it, this photo is pretty funny.

The family watching the tractor groom the arena.

Our family and aunty Maria at the rodeo.

Full size
Aunty Sus and Henry sitting in the back of the car with shades. Once Henry found out that there is a third
row in our Highlander, he declared that he likes our car 'better than a minivan'.

Full size
And without shades.

Full size
Henry wearing Aunty Sus' sunglasses. It's funny that you can see my reflection in the lenses.

Walter playing with his putter in the pipes.

Full size
The boys also think the driving range is cool although they don't really know what to do with it.

Full size
Henry and I went skating at Spray Lakes over the holiday weekend. Henry is definitely slowly improving.
Here he is in the penalty box.

Labour Day Parade

Full size
Henry's friend Gracie joined us for the Labour Day Parade. Here they are with prime seats waiting
to fill their bags with candy. Walter had experience with this from the Cremona Canada Day Parade so
he knows what time it is.

Full size
I thought the Filipino float was entertaining and fun - check out this guy's costume.

Full size
The Shriner cars at the parade.

Full size
One of Walter's favourite vehicles right now is a monster truck. How excited was he for this float?

Full size

Full size
Playing at Riverfront Park.

Full size
Of course we also had some Calaway Park time in here too. Here's Natalia's matching boys at the
entrance clock.

Full size
Calaway Park always does excellent gardening and theme exhibits. Here, Walter is terrified of the
monster sounds coming from inside this box.

Full size
I finally let Henry try out the shooting game at Calaway.

Full size
Walter is finally tall enough for the mini swings and he tried them out on this trip.

Daddy, Henry, and Walter at Calaway on the Dino Eggs. I think it's funny that our two-year-old knows the ride names
and can tell you he wants to go on the 'Dino Eggs Daddy!'.

Henry goes to school

Full size
Henry's school board has a bus ID tag system that beeps them onto the bus. I clipped it to his backpack
and added a pull elastic that he thinks is cool.

Full size
Henry in his new classroom with his name tag.

Full size
Henry on his first day of school.

Full size
This was the first point that Walter realized that the day wasn't about him.

Full size
Needless to say, he didn't take it very well. That's him hugging Pongo the penguin.

Full size
Henry with his 'Maternelle' sign.

Full size
Henry at his new school.

Full size
Walter lined up at the fence with the kindergarten kids and lost it when he found out he wasn't going into the
school with the big kids. In his mind, he's five.

Full size
To celebrate Henry's big day, we went to MacKay's ice cream in Cochrane.

Full size
Henry reading his new Chirp - 'Going to School', very timely from Grandma G.

Full size
Henry and Walter love playing with uncle Eric's Chariot. In this case, Henry is finding a way to push
Walter around at top speed. Of course, the helmet is definitely required.

Pancake Breakfast with the Firefighters

Full size
We attended a pancake breakfast that our local firefighters put on and these boys LOVED it, especially since
they got to sit in a real fire truck and wear fire hats.

Full size
Walter rocking out at the front of a fire truck.

Full size
Rhys and Grayson also joined the party at the pancake breakfast too.

Full size
All of them in a 60s fire truck at the same time.

Henry at the Hanger Aerospace Museum

Full size
Henry and I had an overcast and rainy afternoon to spend so we decided to go check out some vintage aircraft at
the Hangar museum near YYC. Henry thought the models and staging were pretty neat.

Full size
Henry standing beside a rebuilt Avro 652 Anson. This is a 6 passenger commercial aircraft and was actually
used as a trainer for the RCAF as well.

Full size
Henry in a helicopter ride at the museum.

Full size
The second floor gives a good view of this hangar with a few planes and models hung around the room.

Full size
Henry: "Daddy, come check out these seats - they're comfy!". To be fair, the entire time we were at this museum,
it was basically Henry saying, "Henry, come see this!" Definitely age appropriate for a 5 year old who likes
planes and helicopters.

Full size
A bit of a decrepit helicopter with no props anymore.

Full size
Henry and a Borek Air Twin Otter that we took a photo of for uncle Erik who flew these all over Antarctica and
Canada's North.

Full size
The front of a restored Lancaster bomber in the larger Tent hangar.

Full size
After the museum, Henry and I parked by YYC and watched planes take-off and land. I think Henry enjoyed sitting
in the front seat and playing with my sunroof almost as much as watching planes.

Full size
We picked up a helicopter for Henry at the museum and he had to try it out at the tire park.

Full size
The neighbour kids (Wildes) and Henry and Walter having rocket pops on the front steps.

Full size
Henry decided to put my cowboy boots on, in his underwear, and shop in the pantry for snacks.
