We got a last-minute invitation to ski up to Lake O'hara and stay at the Elizabeth Parker
Hut in Yoho NP. I cleared my work schedule and quickly said yes to join three other couples
and a child each. The dozen of us took over the main hut at Elizabeth Parker and had a nice
trip.

Natalia and I decided to bring in our ski touring kit since the trails were pretty icy and I was
going to be carrying Henry in the backpack for the first time on skis. You can see the other little
kids (Danyka and Leaf) in their snowsuits as the Chariot ski carriers were being assembled.

Here is Henry in the back of our car filling up on snacks before we left. The snowsuit is courtesy of
our neighbours and it fit pretty well.

Here are Henry and I at the trailhead getting ourselves ready to go. A note here that a ~25 lb child,
along with backpack, sleeping bags, and ~10 lbs of white wine might be a bit much for a ~12 km ski into
a hut. A Chariot ski carrier would have been a better option.

Natalia's friend Stacey invited us to join her and her husband Alf, and their son Rhys. Here's Stacey
and Natalia skiing along the trail. Notice Natalia's full pack along with Stacey's sweet Chariot!

Nice shot of the ladies with some of Lake O'hara's mountains above them.

Alf and Stacey tried our light touring skis although the edges didn't seem to help too much for them.
Here's Alf in a sweet 'pizza' position putting some power into slowing down the Chariot.

Even though it's been spring for awhile all over Alberta this year, there is still a decent amount of
snow up at Lake O'hara. As if to prove the point, it snowed from the time we got to ~1800m until early
the next morning. This is the creek that runs by the hut.

Here are Henry and I finally arriving at the hut. 4.5 hours from start to finish, with a ~30 minute lunch
meltdown, I mean break.

You can't quite see a lot of the terrain in the area, but it is quite beautiful.

After the families and kids overtook the hut for the night, we woke up and had pancakes and sausages
(thanks Natalia for pre-making!). Henry's a fan of pancakes as you can see by his smile here.

Stacey, Alf, and Rhys. He was having a tough time this trip (teething we think).

A second shot didn't catch Rhys not-crying. :)

A selfie with Natalia LOVING the downhill. Quote Natalia, "Why can't they just make the whole
trail go straight down?? Forget this stupid up and down stuff. I like to ski down and fast!"
Yes, Natalia, write a letter to Lake O'hara.
