These are photos from my birthday and from Thanksgiving in Portland.

My birthday

Full size
Natalia baked me a really cool cake in the shape of a mountain complete with snow, rocks, and a
skier on the top. She totally surprised me as I thought she was going to make a pumpkin. Here I am
blowing out my candles.

My 29th birthday cake and the artist who created it. Note the cool skier on the top of the mountain.

I couldn't quite figure out how best to cut the cake though. Here I am considering what the best
technique is for producing edible-sized portions.

Natalia and I also gave out "adult" treat bags, complete with a little bit of
devil juice for all. Erik made the drive down from Saskatoon to celebrate with me and
also set up this picture here. Thanks also to Erin and Chad, Annie and Brian, Renee and Justin, and Danielle for making the trip
out to celebrate my birthday.

Thanksgiving

Full size
Natalia and Allison got into the crafts a little on Saturday night. Natalia had been talking
about turkey babies for a number of weeks and so this was her idea mostly.

Full size
This was the starting point that would eventually turn into a turkey baby.

Full size
Allison and Natalia also felt that they needed some "spirit" for Thanksgiving and so the turkey
headband was decreed necessary.

Natalia and her plumage.

The finished turkey outfit on a stuffed moose.

Full size
Paul and I also were told we needed some "spirit". We decided to make some Thanksgiving ties,
complete with gourds and scarecrows. Nothing like a little hot glue on a Saturday night.

Full size
Allison and Paul's garden grew some excellent carrots as well as this strange looking thing that
they tell me is a cucumber.

Full size
Natalia bought 5 (that's right FIVE!) pairs of shoes on this trip to Portland. She was
pretty pleased with herself. Thanks to Shopping Club for that one!

Full size
I think I took this since Allison and Nati were trying on each other's shoes.

The Turkey Baby costume - all finished.

An altogether too-close picture of the weird cucumber.

Full size
Paul and Allison hosted a fantastic Thanksgiving supper for us and all of our Portland friends.
Paul is the turkey man, of course, and here he is shoving rosemary and thyme deep into the
turkey's innards. YUM!

Full size
Ross always used to make good apple pies. Now that Kelli is involved, everything gets stepped
up to a new level. Check out the sweet stencil work of the turkey!

Check out Max's pooper!

Even uncle Juan got to hold the little stinker.

Full size
Carl and June and Chris and Keri chilling out on the new kitchen couch. I vote that the
couch should stay in the kitchen. Everyone hangs out there anyway, right?

I think Max's guitar booties are rockin' out.
