Since Natalia was still convalescing, she decided to come along with me on a work trip to Ontario.
Here are our photos from southern Ontario and then back in Saskatoon.

Full size
Natalia decided to splurge and get a hotel room with a view of the Falls. This is the view from our room.

Full size
A view without my thumb. That parking lot is beautiful! I mean, who does that? What a terrible idea.

Full size
Nati and I took a wander around the Falls when we arrived. The sun was out, the mist was down and some
of our photos turned out well.

Full size
Natalia with a rainbow.

Full size
Natalia and I with a rainbow at Niagara Falls.

Full size
These are the American Falls, completely in the US side. Of course, the view is much nicer from the Canadian side.

Full size
Nati and I and American Falls.

Full size
I love taking photos with inanimate objects. It's awesome.

Full size
Nati liked this Reese cup.

Full size
I thought Natalia looking at a giant chocolate bar was funny.

Full size
I also like to take photos with animate objects - specifically mascots.

Full size
This chocolate was one of those examples where you want to eat all of it and you're enjoying it SOOO much,
but by the time you get towards the end of it, you're asking yourself, "Did I really need to eat the whole thing?"

Full size
Natalia thought the guy in the red shirt was stellar so I played my typical, "Here Natalia, why don't I take
a photo of you?" trick.

Full size
Nati thought that Margaritaville was a great time. I thought it was a little cheesy and I'm still a little
blown away that you can build a whole restaurant empire around a single song.

The Maid of the Mist

Full size
I had been wanting to see the Maid of the Mist for a long time. I think this was my 5th or 6th trip through
the Falls area, so I was glad to take the chance to do it this time. As much as I was worried about taking
forever waiting in line, the Niagara Parks Commission does an excellent job moving people along.

Full size
Natalia wore a beautiful dress and this is just before she put on her garbage bag and we got wet.

Full size
Looking back at the Rainbow Bridge. From this elevation, it's easier to see how deep this gorge
actually is.

Full size
Natalia with her garbage bag and the Horseshoe Falls.

Full size
Nati and I and part of the Falls.

Full size
Nati did up her hood since the mist was getting quite wet.

Full size
The sheer volume of water coming through these falls is incredible. This is the American Falls side.

Full size
The side of Horseshoe Falls. I wish I had something for perspective.

Full size
Some birds hanging out in the spray.

Full size
Nati and the Falls.

Full size
Both of us and the Falls.

Full size
Maybe I'm a sucker, but I think this is pretty rad.

Full size
I convinced Nati to make our way up to the top deck for some photos. Here we are hanging out in the
middle of the Horseshoe Falls.

Full size
I really liked this Canadian flag on our side of the Falls.

Full size
Natalia and I got this nice Chinese man to take our photo on the top deck.

Full size
Nati and I after our tour of Maid of the Mist.

Niagara on the Lake

Full size
Natalia and I took a drive out of crazy tourist town and went to a slightly less crazy tourist town.
Niagra on the Lake happened to be hosting a peach festival.

Full size
Natalia found a couple of Karmahn Ghias. She thinks old cars with chrome on them are awesome.

Full size
This is a photo looking towards the downtown core. I thought the flowers were pretty.

Full size
This is looking out the other way, and you can see the Prince of Wales hotel, where we had lunch.

Full size
Nati and I stopped and found some baking at a sweet little bakery. Look at the smile on her face.

Full size
Here is Natalia eating a lemon tart in the car.

Full size
We did a light wine tour, stopping in at a couple of wineries. This one is called Jackson-Triggs
and is right off the main highway into Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Full size
The grapes were beginning to get to a decent size.

Full size
We stopped in at Hillebrand but they were having a Blues concert, so we wandered next door to see a
fruit market and I took a photo of Nati with nice flowers.

Full size
We had dinner at The Keg with a view of the Falls. First, even though we had made a reservation, they
sat us NEAR the window, but not right at it. Then, Natalia made a bit of a fuss and bing, bang, boom,
we're by the window. Moral of the story is that the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

Full size
Natalia and I with Horseshoe Falls behind us.

Full size
Nati thought this pirate was pretty terrific.

Full size
We decided to take a trip up the big Ferris Wheel.

Full size
While Natalia was on the phone, I bought an ice cream. To Natalia's credit, this was only about 6 weeks after
surgery and she still wasn't feeling that well, but she wanted to come along to Ontario and she did.

The Butterfly Conservatory

Full size
Natalia and I took a tour of the Butterfly Conservatory on the way out of Niagara Falls. Here's Natalia
walking down one of the paths with butterflies and crazy trees everywhere.

Full size
Natalia with little butterflies near her.

Full size
These butterflies were the coolest since they had crazy blue colours when they opened their wings.

Video of butterflies in the Conservatory

Full size
A tree filled with butteflies.

Full size
I thought these red trees were pretty awesome.

Full size
These trees are also cool. I thought they were birds of paradise, but Natalia properly corrected me that
they're lobster claws, or Heliconia Rostrata.

Video of blue morpho butterflies eating oranges

Full size
I thought these frogs were entertaining. They are little tiny tree frogs and they were in a little terarium.

Full size
This frog wanted some action.

Full size
One of the crazy blue butterflies on Natalia's skirt. They're actually a species of blue morpho butterfly
native to South America.

Full size
I finally caught a good photo of the blue morpho butterfly with its wings open.

Touring Southern Ontario

Full size
We continued our tour west, making our way to Waterloo. Enroute, we stopped at a little cafe in Jordan
called Zooma Zooma. Here is Natalia eating cold watermelon soup.

Full size
Our next stop was the Wayne Gretzky Winery. He bought the winery a few years ago, but obviously the name
sells a fair amount of wine. Here we are sampling the only red ice wine in Canada.

The African Lion Safari

Full size
This might have been my favourite part of our trip. You can take your car right through the middle of this
zoo (or safari) and see all of the animals. It's like an opposite zoo, where you're the one in the cage.
The Safari is HERE . This is a cheetah I think but it
might be a lion for all I know.

Full size
By far, my favourite part of the safari was the monkeys. Here they are hanging out on the side of a guy's
truck. Of course, people feed the monkeys, which is a no-no, but how fun is it to have a monkey pee on your
truck?

Full size
A monkey mooning me.

Full size
Blurry photo of a monkey actually peeing on a guy's truck. Carl Piro tells me that they do a lot worse than that.

Full size
Monkey getting fed from a Subaru.

Full size
A close-up of our monkey friend. My biggest regret of this trip is that we didn't get any monkeys on our
car. It's sad, I know. We actually did the tour through the monkey area twice, but no luck. Natalia surmised
that the bigger vehicles look more like the trucks that do actually feed these animals and so the monkeys naturally
learn to get up on the trucks and minivans. She's smart, my wife.

Full size
The safari has zebras.

Full size
I think these are a type of gazelle.

Full size
An ostrich getting feb by a GMC Jimmy. Good choice guys. Like the bird isn't going to completely go
off and peck your face to death. They're angry birds those ostriches.

Full size
By far Natalia's favourite animal is the graceful giraffe. In fact, she'd love a baby giraffe as a pet.
Of course, this commercial did nothing to help her belief that she can actually have one.
Russian Opulence commercial

Full size
A really large rhinoceros. Wouldn't it be fun to box this thing?

Full size
Buffalo, or bison, as they like to be called.

Full size
I think this is a lemur.

Full size
Nati and I took a train ride around some of the park. Here we see camels and deer.

Full size
A bald eagle. I think of Paul Dehaan everytime I see a bald eagle since the Olympics.
Here's why Paul as a an eagle

Full size
Natalia thinks that when elephants walk around with their trunks attached to the other's tail that it's
the cutest thing in the world.

Full size
A really ugly turkey vulture.

Full size
Natalia had a red sno-cone. Can you tell?

Full size
The parade of elephants to go take a bath.

Full size
Elephants going in the water.

Another shot of Natalia and elephants.

Saskatoon Folkfest

Full size
It turns out that I did take a few photos from Folkfest. Here I am at the Riderville Pavilion.

Full size
This is Brad's girflriend, also as a rider player.

Full size
James Adamson, Ryan Olde, Warren Hawkins, and I getting ready for a Hutsul Hammer. The look on James'
face is priceless here.

Full size
The boys having a big Hutsul Hammer at the Ukrainian pavilion.

Full size
So, they place shot glasses into this wooden tray and then everyone does it at the same time. Genius!
