Natalia and I were graciously invited to join my sister and brother-in-law for a
annual tradition in Justin's hometown of Halkirk - the Elks Oyster Fry.
One of the aspects of the oyster fry is, of course, the oysters. However, the Elks also put on a
white elephant sale or auction in order to raise money for their charity activities. This beautiful
ram went for $425!
This horse skull with glued on horn and other teeth went for $350.
This was called a 'Saskatchewan electric chain saw'. Really. I'm kind of surprised there
was no Rider logo on it.
This gorgeous fire pit was made by my brother-in-law Justin in his shop. Kudos to the Tankstore
for the donation.
Here are Renee and Natalia enjoying their dinner.
I started stacking my rye glasses, since we were also having a rye-off that night. I think I finished
somewhere north of 15 rye.
Here's a blurry view into the hall during the auction. They're selling a golf club at this point.
Naturally, I had a bar shift to work...
Here's Justin inspecting a local truck.
We took a tour of the new wind power installation going into the Halkirk area by Capital Power. This
is one of the blades for the new turbine.
The main power assembly and the first base already installed.
Thanks again to Dan and Clara for hosting us for such a nice weekend!
