Once again this year I had the great pleasure of being able to run a trip of my good friends
down the Deschutes river near Maupin, OR. Here are a variety of pictures from water cameras,
my camera, and other professional outfits.

The night before

My sister Renee and my girlfriend Natalia and my roommate Tim and I all drove together out to Maupin.
For some reason, Renee and Natalia enjoy this pirate theme and so this is Renee being a pirate in my
back seat.

Pirate Natalia.

We stopped in at Char Burger on the way out to Maupin and Tim and I posed for a picture.

Full size
We took highway 197 across the high desert to Maupin. This highway travels east of Mt Hood
and we took some great pictures of Mt Hood with the sun setting.

Tim, Renee, and Natalia hanging out in front of Mt Hood.

Nati and I in front of Mount Hood.

Nice picture of the sky.

Mt Hood, Oregon.

Part of the trip plan was to spend the evening at the Rainbow Tavern tying one on. Here are
Tim, Nate West, and Jason Stowers at the Rainbow.

Natalia, Renee, and Avie.

The Gormans and I.

Full size
Renee, Natalia, and Avie Meadows. Natalia picked the hats up at the party store and figured that
they would jazz up the night a little.

Full size
Timothy Day, Ph. D candidate, Arizona State University. Can't you tell? I actually think he
looks like The Noid from Domino's Pizza: NOID

Full size
Great picture of Allison Vaneerden.

The always-fun Mrs Keri Gorman had another excellent pre-rafting trip performance. This time, instead
of having her husband hold her hair, she brought up the party with a rousing rendition of the Last
Saskatchewan Pirate - however sung as the Last Maupin Pirate. Lyrics are HERE .

Full size
This is a washed ou picture, but it shows Renee, Natalia, and Keri getting ready to sing.

Full size
The Maupin trip also marked the return of the Chris Otz Memorial Cup, as it was presented on this trip,
this time to Keri Gorman, for her excellent pirate skills. Here, Tim Day models the Cup as it should be
worn. I think I drank out of it that night.

Full size
Maupin 2006 also marked an historic event, the formal introduction of Miss Cynthia to the Rock
Squad. Not only did Cynthia perform well, she got so toasted that we decided that she earned her own
invite into the Rock Squad. I personally think it was the eating french fries off the floor that
did it for me.

Full size
At some point, someone got the bright idea to start doing tattoos in jiffy marker. Chris Gorman's
tattoo here is beautiful. Nice guns Gorman!

Full size
Renee, does Justin know that you have a tattoo of him on your arm?

Full size
Ahem, that's right folks, who has two thumbs and is RAD? THIS GUY!!

Full size
Natalia and I at one of our best moments.

Full size
I don't recall at what point Madonna came out, but we all had a good laugh about it. Kudos to
Renee and Natalia for picking up these sweet party hats!

Full size
Sweaty Mcsweats-a-lot here is showing how hot it was in the bar. The AC wasn't working at all
and water was pouring out of the condenser all night. Meanwhile, we all just partied it up. This
is still a pretty good shot of Juan and I.

Full size
Through some timing trickery, I wound up mouth-to-party-hat with Mr Jason Stowers. Thanks Juan.

Full size
Gorman and Jason showing off their cones. I think that's actually a random girl pulling on them.

Full size
Cynthia definitely earned her stripes this weekend. Nice tweak!

Full size
Since we had four full boats, I wanted to give everyone a chance to try to be boat captain, but
I asked that people prepare some manner of presentation, be it chant, song, poem, or skit, to explain
why they should be boat captain. As it turns out, we should have declined Juan's bid. Regardless,
here is the text of his spoken poem, HERE .

Full size
Renee and I sharing a pint of the good stuff. This was shortly before "the incident", which we will
never speak of again. Okay, just once. My sister can't handle tequila as it turns out. It sort
reminded me of the Earl episode on his stag party in Edmonton.

Full size
Here's a stellar shot of Bill. Bill really put his game face on for this event. To Bill's left,
you see Saul, who made another great late entrance and joined us for another great time.

Full size
Bill was making friends everywhere. I don't remember this one's name, but she's definitely not
ugly, right Bill?

Full size
Renee and Natalia nearing the end of the night, which means Renee will be starting up the
drunk dialing here shortly.

Full size
Natalia and Renee got back to the campsite and decided to spend some time hugging the lawn. I naturally
grabbed another PBR and kicked it up a notch.

Full size
I think Avie took this shot.
