Here are photos and video from our trip to Saskatchewan to visit friends and family
in July 2019

Full size
We started our trip with a run to Red Deer to see my sister and her family. Here is a very excited
Walter and the kids having croissandwiches at the table together.

Full size
Walter trying out Grace's 'Slingshot' battery-powered quad with Logan watching. Walter thought he owned it.

Fun in Vegreville

Full size
Enroute to Lloyd, we decided to show the boys the pysanka in Vegreville. Here was Walter's first reaction to it.

Full size
THIS is what they were MUCH more interested in! A caboose!

Full size
Walter thought this was a cool place to hang out.

Full size
History of the caboose according to CN Rail.

Full size
Walter on the caboose with the pysanka in the background.

Full size
I thought this box was a pretty cool touch. Not sure what torpedoes are doing on the train or the other
item referenced here...

Full size
The boys running up to the egg. Henry thought it was cool how it turned in the wind.

Full size
The boys and Natalia and the pysanka.

Full size
Henry 'upstairs' on the caboose again.

Full size
Walter up there too.

Chillin' in Lloyd

Waskesiu again

Full size
For the third year in a row, we decided to spend some beach time at Waskesiu. Henry really wanted to go fishing
and this year, he actually let me put a real hook on his line.

Henry's first cast with a real fish hook

Full size
While I'd love to say I caught this walleye, a 10 year old on the dock had already limited out so he offered
his walleye to us. Good use of a fishing license I'd say! This was Henry's first encounter with a real
fish and he was excited, but didn't want to get too close. Good thing Daddy had picked up a chain prior
to this trip or it would have been a challenging trip back to the cabin holding it in our hands!

Full size
More casting for more fish.

Much better cast for Henry with a real hook

Full size
Daddy and Henry's fish (not really). I think I'm supposed to hold it closer to the camera so it
looks bigger though.

Full size
So, I have to say this might have been either my first fish cleaning, or at least for a VERY long time. I dented Natalia's coffee
mug as I tried to 'humanely' sedate the fish prior to cleaning it.

Full size
Not a terrible fillet job if I do say so myself. I'm sure my Dad would be laughing somewhere at seeing the poor job
relative to how he would have done it, but I was able to feed Natalia and I so I thought it was a win.

Full size
This is really the real purpose of going to Waskesiu - to eat ice cream. Walter was REALLY excited to be
having 'wet paint' ice cream since he convinced himself he wanted purple ice cream.

Full size
Henry and I went for a walk while Walter napped and he took this classic Waskesiu photo.

Full size
Along with another one he wanted to do for Grace with his tongue out.

Full size
The nature centre in Waskesiu is first-rate and we spent more than an hour just exploring and playing here.
A GREAT place to spend the day, especially if it's raining a bit.

Video of the boys on the baby swings - a HUGE hit

The boys playing in the sand and Walter running the net.

Full size
Enjoying snack time after playing in the water. We lucked out and got two of the nicest beach days Waskesiu
had in July. Nice weather window!

Full size
Henry and Mommy found the new shave ice shop, which made Henry's day. Of course, he got rainbow.

Full size
Walter on the baby swings with a popsicle.

Full size
Walter on the beach having a big day!

Full size
It took us the better part of an hour to convince Henry that we couldn't take his dead minnow home with
us after he found it in the net.

Video of Walter spinning his arms like Henry (while they're in matching sweaters)

Video of Walter saying 'Wet Paint' at the Big Olaf

Hanging in Saskatoon

Full size
Enroute back into Saskatoon, we hit up a spray park and had lunch. This park is actually quite nice even though
the neighbourhood isn't ideal. The park is called AH Browne, or the Mayfair Spray Park and the boys loved it.

Full size
Walter running around the spray park.

Full size
Walter mid-stride.

Full size
You can see some of the joy he has while playing in the water.

Full size
Henry equally loves playing in splash parks too.

More quads

Full size
Henry was promised 'worms and dirt' from Boston Pizza with my Mom, and of course, she came through. He
was jacked!

Children's Museum

Full size
Henry and Walter got to explore the new Children's Museum in Saskatoon. This play area seemed to
be a hit.

Full size
It looks kind of like saggy old men in this photo...

Full size
Apparently, the elevator simulates going down into a mine and both boys thought it was realistic
enough to be actually scared and need to hold hands.

Full size
Walter loved taking this tire off the mining truck.

Full size
He could actually take the lug nuts off the tire and take the tire off.

Full size
Henry got to play with an actual conveyor belt.

Full size
So, they've now seen a CP train and a CN caboose on this trip so it's complete.

Full size
We played at the 'train' park with Natalia's sister and family.

Full size
Grandma G likes to take the kids to feed the ducks when they're in town.

Full size
Walter liked throwing whole buns at the them and holler 'HIYA!' Yup, he's an intense little guy.

Full size
Feeding the ducks, and taking the occasional bite too.

With Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Carl

Full size
Out at a family event, the boys always love finding a playground. Here Aunty Maria is showing them how
to rock out the tire swing.

Video of the kids on the tire swing

Full size
A cute photo of our little Walter, all grown up on a big kid swing.

Full size
The kids at the table for I's 5th birthday party. Yay for hot dogs and birthday hats!

Full size
Aunty Maria and Henry at the table wearing their hats.

Full size
Grandma Wendy organized a scavenger hunt for the kids to explore their property and the kids LOVED it!

Video of scavenger hunt

Full size
Henry was pretty excited to find plastic animals hanging in the trees!

Full size
Grandma Wendy made a chocolate cake with Belle on it for I's 5th birthday and she was thrilled!

Video of I blowing out her candles

Full size

Full size
Making faces for the camera.

Full size
A somewhat nicer photo.

Full size
We found a caterpillar and the kids loved playing with it and amazingly didn't kill it.

Full size
Henry with the caterpillar on a leaf.

Video of the kids HAMMERING on this playground

Full size
Aunty Maria reading ALL of the grandkids a book.

Full size
Aunty Maria was also celebrated with a cake and ALL of her candles too. A note that this angel food
cake also came with a mammoth supply of whipped cream and strawberries. Another GREAT cake from a very
thoughtful Grandma Wendy!

Full size
We tried to set up a family photo. I sometimes find that the 'light level check' photos are hilarious
with little kids as they're just trying to do anything but sit still.

Full size
All of the ladies and the grandkids at the event.

Full size
The whole kit and caboodle from the event. A big thanks to Grandpa Carl and Grandma Wendy for hosting
this amazing get together at their new home!

Visiting Great Grandma Perrault in Ponteix

Full size
The boys always love visiting Grandma P in Ponteix. They also love her walker and love to ride it
around the Foyer.

Video of riding the walker and spinning

Henry riding it too

Full size
The boys and I with Great Grandma P - she's 98 and looking great!

Final stop in Swift Current

Full size
No trip to the south would be complete without a visit to the mayor. Here are the boys enjoying their
supper on the Thomas table on the deck.

Full size
The boys LOVE playing with their big cousin Luc. In this case, they played road hockey on the new
park across the street.

Full size
Playing croquet on their lawn.

Full size
Natalia thought it was funny that Walter wanted to play with a loonie and put it in between his toes.

Full size
Henry reading the book that Rick and Janet bought for him - Pete the Cat - another winning selection!

Full size
Walter refusing to nap on this trip in the car. I think we went 3 for 4 on long drive days where Walter
didn't nap. Needless to say, these are long days in the car with a crazy 2 year old.
