Here are some photos and videos from Natalia and I's trip to Whistler and from the Great Shadow
Lake Lodge trip of 2012.

Natalia and I woke up to champagne powder (about 30cms) at Whistler Blackcomb. This made for an excellent
opportunity to tour a great ski hill, even with the crowds and line-ups. Also, I had the pleasure of trying out
a new set of goggles from Recon Instruments so I had a hoot playing with those.

Here are Natalia and I waiting for the Blackcomb Glacier gondola.

Natalia is one of the only people I know who wants ice cream in the winter time. She found an ice cream shop
in Whistler Village and wanted to eat her ice cream by the fireplace in our suite.

Full size
Here I am loving a big platter of eggs for breakfast. We decided to take the Fresh Tracks breakfast option
which allowed us to have first ski tracks and go up the gondola before everyone else.

Here are my and Natalia's skis under the ski lift.

I give fresh snow the Paul stamp of approval.

Jeanna and Jenn invited Natalia and I to join them on a cross country ski trip into Shadow Lake Lodge.
Here we are, Team Party Pig, before skiing in the 5.5 hours to the lodge. Louis is the new guy on the right.

The nicely groomed trail into Shadow Lake.

The view of Mt Ball as the sun is setting. This was about 30 minutes past the point of being done for the day. Thankfully, the
Lodge was about 2 minutes away.

Full size
After a full day of skiing to get into the lodge, we woke up to a beautiful morning looking across the lake.
I love the blue colour on the mountain. This is Isabelle Peak behind the blue clouds.

Here are the main eating lodge and the hang-out lodge at Shadow Lake.

These are the sleeping cabins that are all named after the local mountain peaks and lakes.

Mike and I took the day to get some touring into Gibbon Pass area. This is Mike on the uptrack.

Full size
I think this is Storm Mountain behind me. We're just about at Gibbon Pass.

Full size
Tell me this isn't a beautiful spot.

Full size
Another nice shot of Mike in the sun.

Full size
Look at how sweet this line looks to the left of Mike's head.

Full size
I looked across the pass and saw these chutes and just about fell over. How sweet is this? Since it was
our first tour in this area, we elected to ski the safe shoulder on the left side of this peak. I think a
bootpack up the left ridge and into the bowl is in order on the next tour.

Full size
The view from the shoulder we skied looking to the south east.

Here is Mike on the uptrack looking back at Pilot Mountain, the namesake of our cabin.

Full size
Mike is taking a pee with a great view in front of him to the north and into Twin Lakes.

Full size
You can see the tracks we put into that fresh snow on the shoulder. You have to look though.

Full size
Mike found his way into a tree well on our ski down to the lodge.

Full size
Here is Jenn making her way back from Haiduk Lake (or almost there) with Mt Ball behind her.

Full size
This is definitely some nice apres ski. The ladies are enjoying lemonades in the sun.

Full size
Here are the four of us enjoying the sun.

Here are Jeanna, Louis, Lavonne, Erin, and Noah out for a ski. Photo credit to Jenn.
