Dan and I took a weather and work window to knock an early season peak out of prior to
AB Parks closing the Yam trailhead for the year to do some much-needed repair work.

Dan thinks this sign post is funny as it shows AB Parks telling people "Are you sure you know where you are?"

The sun is getting up earlier and earlier as we get closer to the end of June.

A look at some of the snow on the backside of Yam.

After slightly missing our connector into the CMC Valley, we eventually found blue flagging tape
helping us in the snow down to the creek bottom. This is the farthest east outcrop on Wendell and
actually had some serious-looking rock climbing on it.

Full size
Looking back at Yam makes it actually show the complete scramble in a way that is hard to capture from the front.

Full size
The approach to the East Peak of Wendell passes right by some interesting rock pinnacles that are worth
having an investigation into.

This pinnacle reminded me of Monkey Face at Smith Rock, which makes me think of my friend Jordan.

Dan just about to find the route up this corner, wearing his blue space shoes.

The backside of the route here isn't too tough to stay on trail (with Mapster at least), although we
read a few folks who kept traversing to the left and then straight up the scree exit, which sounds awful.
For the record, the route mostly follows this right corner around some rock bands and then eventually to the
summit ridge.

Without this big mound of snow on the final ridge, the route is pretty technically simple.

We got back down to valley slightly below our ascent line, but which was more efficient anyway.

Every great outing finishes with a beer at the car. I'm just changing my socks prior to serving a couple of IPAs.

Garmin Connect route HERE with relevant stats 16.4 km, 1390 m elevation gained, 7 hours 16 mins.
