A mixed bag of photos and videos of the boys

Full size
Grace came to visit for some fun over the extended Christmas break. Here she is out for a walk
where it was a balmy -30 deg C.

Full size
Here are Walter and Henry having a donut at the Donut Mill in Red Deer after selling Natalia's car.

Full size
This was the note that Grace left for Henry after her visit.

Full size
We took the boys out cross country skiing to try out the tow-whee with Walter. Amazingly, this
was one of the few days in the winter when we had enough snow to ski in town, and this is along the
Bow River.

Full size
The word with young kids on xc skis is not to give them poles so we didn't.

Full size
While he doens't love the pink ski boots, he does just fine on them.

Full size
Enjoying a nice day out.

Walter xc skiing in Cochrane

Full size
Part of the bribe with xc skiing (all parenting is bribery) was to offer some sledding at
Jumping Pound, which the boys love. Here's Henry with his Mom.

Full size
Here's Walter and I playing with shadows in the play tent from my Mom.

Full size
Here's Walter playing the piano and enjoying the sounds.

Full size
And playing with water dripping from the eaves.

Full size
We took a skate on the new outdoor rink in town. Here's Walter loving life and enjoying
a session on the ice.

Full size
Natalia and the boys skating as a family.

Full size
Natalia and her friend Stacey having a rare moment with no children.

Full size
Walter and his friend Grayson skating at the outdoor rink.

Full size
Henry and I decided to make a rocket since he found the starter kit I had in my lab. Here he is
adjusting the stickers for the tail fins.

Full size
We took a family stroll at the William Bagnall rec area near Water Valley. Here's a look at the tiny
trailhead that can manage maybe ~8 cars.

Full size
The boys walking with me around our biking trail.

Full size
Henry says 'what a view!'

Full size
Playing with well-packed snow. Honestly, having micro spikes would be handy for future walks here
until it melts out.

Full size
Natalia says the snow is fine!

Full size
Henry likes the frozen Silver creek.

Full size
And so does Walter.

Full size
After a ~3km hike, the boys made it back to the creek. To be fair, it took a lot of carrying Walter
but they did enjoy being out in the woods.

Full size
This gives an idea of how high the water level freezes in the winter.

Full size
We then went to a bday party at Ty's, which Walter loved the sledding. Zoom in on his happy face here.

Full size
Until he fills his face with snow that is.

Full size
We finally had my friend Jenny over for a mixed grill dinner of lamb, lamb ribs, and steaks. Here's
Jenny and Kevin's son Torin enjoying crushing a donut.

The Hangar Aviation Museum in Calgary

Full size
I took the boys for a Saturday outing to the Aviation museum in Calgary since Walter had never been there.
Here they are getting a look at the starting area.

Full size
Looking at engines.

Full size
And some of the hanging planes.

Full size
This is a sleeve valve cylinder that they boys could play with.

Full size
Walter and a DH 100 Vampire.

Full size
Henry with an F-86A Sabre.

Full size
Our boys as pilots in the RCAF.

Full size
Henry pointed out this Saturn V rocket and said 'Daddy, that's not right. It shouldn't say Canada on it.'
As usual, he's right.

Full size
Having a picnic lunch in the sunshine is always nice. Especially considering it could be -40 on this day
and instead didn't required mitts or toques in January.

Full size
Walter playing with a tail of a plane.

Full size
Looking at the bomb container from one of the planes.

Full size
After the museum we went to go watch planes land while the boys played with and broke their new toys.

Full size
Henry, just before he broke his helicopter.

Full size
Walter crushing his snacks and his new SR-71 Blackbird.

Full size
After watching planes land and take off, what better thing to do for the afternoon than play at
the Science Centre.

Full size
Stacking tires and playing in the Children's area.

Full size
and crashing.

Full size
Telus has a new exhibit around rescuing people and this was a cool pulley that Walter loved.

Full size
Playing with the demo helicopter.

Full size
Riding the jet skis to nominally go save someone.

Full size
Since it was so nice, we also got to play outside in their great playground space.

Full size
I managed to get Henry out for his first ski day at Lake Louise. Here he is riding the gondola
on a gorgeous morning in the Rockies.

Full size
Walter and I at the top of the gondola with Mt Temple behind us.

Full size
Henry skiing down the front side.

Full size
Rocking a big snowplow allows Henry to get just about anywhere on the mountain.

Full size
Henry with the Lake Louise group behind him.

Full size
Having a bite of lunch at the cafeteria. Henry was super jacked to get to make his own swamp water.

Full size
Skiing at Lake Louise.

Henry skiing at Lake Louise

Full size
Henry even made it to the back side at Temple Lodge. Here he is studying the map and ensuring that
we get a chance to try all of the areas he wants to see.

Full size
The big icicles on the front side lodge were a big hit for Henry.

Full size
"Check this out Dad!"

Full size
Henry and the Victoria Glacier and a huge icicle.

Full size
Henry found the Top of the World a bit too steep for him, but he made it down anyway.

Full size
Henry did SO WELL on this day, I was so proud of him. After he carried his skis all the way to the
parking lot at row 12, he finally called it and dropped his skis for a breather.
